We are living in the 21st century where one can witness many revolutions in the last couple of years but one subject is abandoned severely and that is “Animal Rights”.
In a country where condition of human rights is so friable, talking about animal rights is rather unanticipated and astounding. Though worldwide campaigners are waging a constant struggle for the protection of animal rights but country like Pakistan, the environment and animal welfare are often dismissed as non-issues and countered with the argument that human beings come first. In the most un-favorable circumstances VOAF is the one who gathered courage to raise voice for the animal rights.
Although, the debate continues “Why waste time on animal rights when humans don’t get their rights here?” is the common rejoinder to the idea of animal welfare or animal rights in Pakistan. Meanwhile, animal lovers and public initiative like VOICE OF ANIMAL FOUNDATION strive to change the mindset that makes both these issues mutually exclusive.
VOAF is a small effort to bring a change in society trying hard to create awareness about the fact that animals and humans are interconnected on the web of life and need to address different issues synchronously is of paramount importance.
Bringing about a behavioral change, amongst the people of Pakistan, is vital, In this regard, voaf is putting great effort. In this regard Voaf has been conducting a series of awareness campaign targeting the school kids about the significance of compassion towards animal. Children also teach about the hygiene of pets and how to treat them in illness.
VOAF motivates the people to adopt the pets and animal and keep them as a family member at home. Voaf is also building small shelters and homes for homeless dogs and cats. Animal rescue service is also a trivial effort to save and ease sick animals started by the Voaf in Pakistan.
There is a law of Prevention of cruelty of animals Act, 1890 but it is un-attended and un-followed. Voaf is the one who come forward with a petition regarding animal rights in the country and also signed by the prominent personalities of country including world fame Jurist S M Zafar.
